One Day Seminar and Celebration of TechCrunch 2014 by H K College of Pharmacy
H. K. College of Pharmacy’s, H K Knowledge Base, celebrated 6th Scientific Day, TechCrunch 2014 on 25th September 2014 on the Occasion of World Pharmacist Day. A one Day Seminar on ‘Frontiers in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Drug Discovery Innovations” along with Poster competition, was organized on 27th September 2014. Both the days were open for participation to all Pharmacy and Science colleges. Success of the two programmes was seen through the overwhelming participation from the students of other colleges from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan, Nasik, Satara, Gulbarga.
Scientific Day included in all six different competitions like Model making (18 groups), Pharma Quiz (14 groups), Oral presentation (8 groups), Innovative Product Packaging (6 groups), Pharma Treasure Hunt (9 groups), Pharma Debate (8 groups). Enthusiastic response from other colleges like Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS)-Vile Parle, MET College of Pharmacy- Bandra, K M Kundanani College of Pharmacy-Colaba, Dr. L H Hiranandani College of Pharmacy- Ulhasnagar and Viva College of Pharmacy- Virar, Oriental College of Pharmacy-Sanpada, made the competitions tougher than ever.
The One day Seminar was graced by the presence of honourable chief guest Dr. Hitesh Doshi, Managing Director, Indeus Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. Sir enlightened the audience by his keynote address which focused mainly on the nanotechnology. The day proceeded with the sessions on ‘Lipid Nanocarriers: Trojan horse for Intracellular Delivery’ by Dr. Vandana Patrawale, Prof of Pharmaceutics, ICT, Mumbai, ‘Pharmacological Aspects of Herbal Drugs and Modern Medicines’ by Mr. Nitin Mahurkar, Prof and HOD Pharmacology, Prof in Charge Pharm D, Matoshree Taradevi Rampure Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Gulbarga, ‘Molecular modeling in drug design and development’ by Dr. Evans Coutinho, Prof and HOD of Pharm Chemistry, BCP, Mumbai, ‘Herbal based Cosmoceuticals’ by Mrs. Renuka Thergaokar, CEO of ALCOS International.
There were total 53 posters for the competition from different categories of Pharmacy field. The evaluation of posters were done in two rounds by experts of each category. The poster evaluators appreciated the way students prepared and presented the posters at their best level. Our evaluators were Dr. Aruna Jadhav, Assistant Professor in Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry, Bharati Vidyapeeth’s College of Pharmacy, Dr. Ganga Srinivasan, Professor in Pharmaceutics, Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Pharmacy, Mumbai, Dr. Mala Menon, Professor of Pharmaceutics, Bombay College of Pharmacy Kalina, Mumbai, Dr. Krishna Ayer, Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Bombay College of Pharmacy, Mumbai. The different colleges participated in poster competition were H K College of Pharmacy-Jogeshwari, ICT- Matunga Mumbai, Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Pharmacy- Chembur Mumbai, Dr. L H Hiranandani College of Pharmacy- Ulhasnagar, Sandip Foundations, Sandip Institute of Pharmacy-Nasik, Saraswati Vidya Bhavan’s College of Pharmacy- Dombivali, Shri D. D. College of Pharmacy-Panvel, Rajiv Gandhi College of Pharmacy- Gulbarga Karnataka, Sahyadri College of Pharmacy- Sangola, PSGVP Mandal’s Institute of Pharmacy, Shahada Nandurbar.
The first Prize was grabbed by the ICT students (CURCUMIN: A NOVEL PHYTOCHEMICAL ALTERNATIVE FOR ALPHA SYNUCLEIN INDUCED PARKINSON’S DISEASE), Second prize went to Vivekanand Education Society’s College of Pharmacy- Chembur Mumbai (GREEN CHEMISTRY FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE), Third Prize HK College of Pharmacy (Psychopharmacolgy- Parasomnia), Consolation prize1 HK College of Pharmacy (PREPARATION AND EVALUATION OF POLYHERBAL FORMULATION FOR ITS WOUND HEALING ACTIVITY), Consolation Prize 2 H K College of Pharmacy (DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF LAFUTIDINE SOLID DISPERSION VIA HOT MELT
