Workshop on Emotional Intelligence for Teaching Staff of H. K. College of Pharmacy on 27th June 2013
A one day workshop on Emotional Intelligence was organized at H. K. Campus. The workshop was attained by all the faculties of H. K. College of Pharmacy. The workshop was focused especially on understanding emotional intelligence and application of this knowledge in teaching. Asin the beginning Dr. Vyas said the word emotion comes from a Latin word “emot = something that drives us or pushes us”. The workshop was focused on understanding the emotions and handling our emotions effectively to do the work efficiently.
Dr. Vyas’s main content of the workshop was the discussion on different components of EI.
These components are
1) Self Awareness,
2) Self Management,
3) Self Confidence or Self Efficiency,
4) Empathy and
5) Self Motivation
Through different examples, many video clips and sound discussion with audience Dr. Vyas explained all the above five point in great detailed. Like for self awareness he said its like a smoke alarm and warns us for our coming emotions. Similarly he talked about self management and explained how by thinking higher life purpose we can reduce the destructive emotions, which ultimately will bring a higher satisfaction level in an individual’s life. For explaining empathy Dr. Vyas showed a video from the movie Gandhi and by quoting those examples he explained how empathy is essential for good working environment. Finally he talked about self motivation and explained that this is an essential component for having a high EQ level.
The sessions were very effective and all were very happy to attain the workshop. The workshop ended by vote of thanks by Dr. Anubha Khale, Principal HKCP.
